Before Why Is It? was collected into book form, it appeared as a continuing feature in Cable Tow magazine. The pages presented here are original publication pages preserved among Adolph Strauss's personal papers, where they remained for decades in his briefcase. Although they do not include the surrounding magazine pages, they are authentic period documents representing the feature as it originally appeared in print. They are presented here to preserve and share a remarkable piece of publishing history.
