I'm not sure what this is. The author of "Why Is It?" was Adolph Strauss, younger brother of Maurice "Moe" Strauss, one of the founders of the Pep Boys auto accessory chain.. Apparently, Adolph did much of the early advertising for the chain. Is this an early prototype for Pep Boys Automotive & Tires? Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

There seems to be no end to the variations of the title "Why Is It", that have appeared in print over the years.. Apparently the title of this cartoon was trademarked, and defended as far back as 1953. Defending the Trademark
